Rootstock
Rootstock for Cucurbits
The purpose of grafting is to reduce infection by soil borne diseases caused by pathogens, but also to resist low soil temperatures or salt, to increase yield, plant vigour or to extend the harvest period of a crop. Within Cucurbits like watermelon, melon and cucumber, main objectives are to reduce the risk of soil borne diseases like Fusarium root disease or to gain earliness due to better low temperature tolerance. A range of new rootstocks has been selected with an excellent compatibility on watermelon combined with required resistances and minimal side effects on quality.
